My perfect day would begin by waking up naturally to the sun
on a warm summer day after having slept all night long without kids waking
up. I would then want a few minutes of lying
in our bed with Sophie climbing up next to me to cuddle with B and Molly next
to us all happy and ready to face THE BEST DAY EVER.
We would then get ready at lightning speed…girls cooperating
and all…because it would be time to go garage selling. After a quick stop at RB’s to pick up our
soda (mine would be Coke that is healthy…this is my perfect day don’t knock it)
and box of donuts to throw at joggers (don’t ask) we would be on the road with
Grandma, Grandpa and Becki and the girls in tow. We would begin our route and find a plethora
of garage sales to stop at and would you believe they all have baby clothes for
B and loads of antiques, furniture and house stuff (preferably Pottery barn)
for the rest of us at rock bottom prices.
After exhausting ourselves with garage sales we would go
back to unload our goodies and be joined by Becki’s whole family for a great
lunch at El Matador (the best shredded lettuce Mexican in town). Oh we would laugh and tell stories and jokes
and still marvel at what good finds we have (all the while I would know it was
because we were living my perfect day).
We then would head to our favorite nurseries to wander the
plant isles and see what new plants we haven’t discovered or just smell that
smell you can only get at a nursery. We
would make our purchases excited about the prospects before us and the
transformation they are going to make in our yards.
Our girls would naturally be tired at this point (not
screaming tantrum tired but yawning I can’t wait to sleep quiet kind of
tired). We would take them home for a nap
to which they both would take willingly and quickly. B and I would then wander with our purchases
in the yard deciding where would be their new home. After digging in the dirt and feeling the sun
on our backs we would retreat to our lounge chairs in the shade and relax dozing
off for a few precious minutes of peace.
Waking up to our girls giggles (not screeches…stay with me
again my day not yours) we would play in the yard and the girls would put on
their swimsuits and splash in their pool and slide down their slide. We would wrestle in the grass and laugh as I
chased them with their chubby little legs running to get away.
We would go on a walk with the girls around the neighborhood
to visit the widow’s gardens and stop to watch the creek with Libby running by
our side. We would talk about our dreams
and plan our week…all around we wouldn’t be burdened by stress.
B and I would then leave the girls with our best babysitter,
Alli and team, and head out to dinner at Texas Roadhouse with family and
friends. Magically the restaurant would
be a lot quieter than normal so we could hear each other talk and still have
their great food. Then it’s off to the
movies. In my perfect day B loves the
movies as much as I do and is just as excited as I am. We head into the theatre with our huge
popcorn and magically healthy Coke and settle into our seats for the best movie
ever.
After the movie we say our goodbyes and head home to our
sleeping girls. We collapse into bed as
we end our perfect day but start our perfect night…but that is just for B and
I.
